Democratic Party Elections

We’ve listed ballot items in the Voter Guide in the same order as they appear on your ballot. First we list Democratic Party Elections. To vote in the Democratic Party Elections, you have to be a registered Democrat by July 22: the voter registration deadline. If you’re not a registered Democrat, these races won’t appear on your ballot.

US Senate Candidates

All Florida Democrats may vote in the U.S. Senate Democratic August Primary, so this race will appear on the ballot for all Pinellas Democrats.

District 13

Pinellas Democrats living in U.S. Congressional District 13 (currently represented by Republican Anna Paulina Luna), may vote in the Democratic Primary for that seat.

Precinct 216

In five Pinellas County precincts (Precincts 142, 216, 220, 231, and 527), Democrats may also vote for a Democratic Party Precinct Committeeman and/or Precinct Committeewoman.

Slate Card Heading

The second part of the Voter Guide provides information about universal elections and nonpartisan elections. You can vote in these elections regardless of your party affiliation. This section is a slate card, listing candidates we have identified as most closely aligned with our values.

Supervision of Elections

All candidates running for Supervisor of Elections are Republicans, so rather than a partisan Republican Primary this is a Universal Primary. That means that all Pinellas County voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote in this Primary election. The candidate who receives the most votes will be the winner, and the race will not appear on the November General Election ballot.

Circuit Judges

Candidate party affiliation is not listed on the ballot for Circuit Judge. For each Circuit Judge election, Voter Action Pinellas lists the candidate most closely aligned with our values. This is based solely on publicly available information about each candidates' affiliation with political parties and other partisan groups. Click here for information more information about the circuit judge elections.

School Board

The School Board District 1 seat is an “At Large” seat, which means that all Pinellas voters will vote in the election for that seat. The District 4 and District 5 School Board seats are “Single Member” seats, so only voters who live in those Districts vote in those elections. In August there are municipal elections in St. Pete Beach, Oldsmar, Tarpon Springs, and St. Petersburg.

There are primary races for City Council in two St. Petersburg City Council Districts: District 3 and District 7. Only voters who live in these Districts can vote in these races. Voter Action Pinellas does not endorse a candidate in either of these races, but we encourage you to make a choice and share it with your friends and family.

County Referendum

All Pinellas Voters may vote on an extension of an Ad Valorem Tax exemption for new businesses and existing expanding businesses that are expected to create new, full-time jobs in Pinellas County.
