The Challenge: There have been big changes to the voter registration process in Florida:
- We can no longer collect and submit voter registration applications on behalf of a registrant.
- Florida has enacted stiff fines and penalties for violations.
- As a result, we will encourage online registration where possible.
Voter Registration Requirements
- To be eligible to vote in an election in Florida, a person must:
○ be a US citizen (green card holders cannot register);
○ be a legal Florida resident;
○ be 18 years old on or before Election Day (however, preregistration is available at 16);
○ not be a person who has been adjudicated as mentally incompetent to vote in Florida or any other state (unless voting rights have been restored); and
○ not be a person who is convicted of a felony (unless voting rights have been restored).
