Step #1: Invite your friend to join us! If you know someone who’s interested in reaching out to voters, invite them to access the Reach campaign by sending them an invitation link through the Reach App. Here are instructions for doing that: Inviting a User on Reach.
Step #2: Make sure they have training. You should send all new volunteers our website link, introductory training, and training for the current initiative or electron cycle, as applicable. Here’s a sample email sending training links: Sample Intro Email. Please copy Mary Fahy on the email (at fahyvote@gmail.com) so that we know your volunteer has received the training.
Step #3: Identify availability; offer personal assistance. Find out when they are available to review the training and do outreach. Offer to provide one-on-one help or let them know about available small-group trainings. But ask them to review the training materials on their own first.
Step #4: Follow up. Follow up with them within one week (or on whatever schedule you two decide will work) to make sure that they are comfortable with the Reach system. Make sure that you know the best way to reach them.
Step #5: Make sure they’re up to date on new initiatives and events. We’ll provide emails to the whole volunteer group about upcoming elections and initiatives. You can follow up with your Reach volunteers to be sure they got the news. And at election time we’ll provide you with turnout info targeted for each Reach volunteer that you can share.
Step #6: Be available to answer questions; troubleshoot. Make sure they know the best way to reach you with questions. We may be able to see on the Reach administrator system that they are having trouble with Reach operations. If so, we’ll let you know so that you can contact them to provide help. And make sure that they know the other tools that they can use to get help. Here are help resources: Voter Action Pinellas Reach Help.
Step #7: Encourage suggestions for improvement! Make sure that they know that we welcome suggestions for improvement. You can send them this link that they can use to make suggestions: Voter Action Pinellas Suggestions for Improvement.
