Start with yourself and people closest to you. If you already talk about voting with friends and family, they’re the first people to add to your network.
Many of us know people who lean our way but might not be as engaged. For example young voters who move around a lot may need to update their registration. You could expand your network to include those voters. It’s in this circle that you’re likely to move the needle to increase turnout.
You’ll also have the opportunity to expand your network with voter registration outreach in underrepresented communities. We offer to follow up with people we help, so that we can provide them with precinct-specific voting information during election season.
If you participate in Community-Facing Outreach, you can add the people you meet to your personal voter network. Helping register someone to vote is a wonderful foundation for a personal connection.
This is your network –you can make it as big or small as you’d like. You can include anyone whom you feel comfortable speaking with about voting.
