TOWN OF REDINGTON SHORES REFERENDUM QUESTIONS
#1
Amend Charter to confirm existing home rule powers and existing Town Manager position?
#2
Authorize Town Commission remove outdated or preempted language from section 4 of the Charter and amend the section to expressly allow the Commission to adopt and enforce standards for property maintenance?
#3
Permit removal of a Commissioner for good cause and identify Commissioner compensation as a stipend rather than a salary (since Commissioners aren't Town employees)?
#4
Currently the Charter provides for election districts based on population. Should a new provision be added that prevents or makes less likely the election of more than one district Commissioner from any one master homeowner or condominium association?
#5
Require monthly Commission meetings, consistent with current practice, and clarify one specific date for induction of Commissioners?
#6
Merge two sections of the Charter relating to Commision powers and duties to create consistency and avoid redundancy?
#7
Remove references to a Commission Treasurer, since that role no longer exists, and insert section addressing the periodic charter review process?
#8
Repeal inconsistent requirements for signatures on Town contracts and official documents, so that Florida state law related to signatures on official Town documents will apply?
#9
Replace outdated requirement that Town Clerk sign payment authorizations with requirement that payment authorizations be signed by the Mayor or Vice Mayor and a signatory authorized by the Commission?
#10
Remove provision that limits Town borrowing to 1/2 of taxes levied in one year and remove procedural requirements for revenue bonds, so that Florida state law will apply to the bond issuance process?
#11
Expand ethics requirements to prohibit contracting with a Commissioner, the Town Manager, or the Town Clerk, or their spouses, children, or business partners?
#12
Allow Commission to amend the budget without the consent of the Mayor, since the Mayor's role is ceremonial?
#13
Expand permitted public notice methods from mainly newspaper ads to all lawful forms of notice, such as electronic communication?
#14
Remove redundant sections and correct grammar?
#15
Clarify that the Mayor's duties and powers are conferred not only by the Town Charter but also by Florida law?
#16
Remove provisions that detail the history of Redington Shores' founding?
