Voter Registration and Vote by Mail Training

PINELLAS COUNTY VOTER REGISTRATION AND VOTE BY MAIL TRAINING

Voter Action Pinellas is committed to helping voters at every step of the voting process, from voter registration to Election Day. This training is for volunteers who want to help Pinellas County citizens register to vote and sign up to vote by mail.

HOW TO CHECK VOTER REGISTRATION AND VOTE BY MAIL STATUS

A person can check their voter registration and vote by mail status by calling the Pinellas Supervisor of Elections office at (727) 464-VOTE (8683) or visiting an office (see the end of this training for office locations and hours).

A person also can check voter registration and vote by mail status online, as follows:

  • Access either the Pinellas County or Florida Secretary of State website:

o   If the voter is a Pinellas County resident, it’s better to check the Pinellas County site because it will provide Vote by Mail information, which is not available on the Florida Secretary of State’s site. Go to votepinellas.gov and from the home page select Check Registration Status.

o  If the voter is not a Pinellas County resident, go to the site for the County of residence or to the Florida Secretary of State website, https://registertovoteflorida.gov/home, and from the landing page select Am I registered?.

  • Once the name and birthdate is entered, the voter should arrive at a page with their voter information. If the person is not showing as a voter on the Pinellas County site (votepinellas.gov), then the person will be directed to select a link to the Florida site to check if they’re registered at a Florida address outside of Pinellas County.
  • If the person is already registered, they should make sure all information, including address, is correct.  See How to Register to Vote or Update a Registration below for more information about registering to vote or updating a voter registration.
  • If searching on the Pinellas County site, check for Vote by Mail status.

If the voter sees the following note in the voter’s info on votepinellas.gov, that means that the voter is signed up to vote by mail through the November 2024 Election, and won’t need to take any action to update their vote by mail status until after the November 2024 election:
